“Start by starting.”
“Perfection is the enemy of progress.”
“Perfectionism is just procrastination in disguise.”
Three cute quotes I’ve shared with friends and mentees over the years, not sure where they came from, but I’m taking my own advice as I welcome you to Full Disclosure, a corner of the internet that provides a #nofilter perspective on career and life progression for self-made, ambitious professionals.
Let me explain what I mean by “self-made.”
I’m the first in my immediate family to have a corporate career —not unionized, not trade-based, and not cushioned by family connections. I grew up in a loving, supportive household (which I consider one of the greatest privileges), but when it came to navigating a career, or elevating my financial standing outside of the working-middle-class, I was on my own.
Ever since I realized that no one was coming to save me (IYKYK - let me know if you want the story of that day), I’ve been a full-blown consumer of self-improvement content. Books, podcasts, articles, frameworks —you name it. But what I always wanted was a voice that felt unfiltered, because so much of the content out there still feels like only half the story is being told, and there is a lot of fluff.
This isn’t a place to shame people who grew up with more financial access or guidance. It’s not a space for otherness or for self-pity. It’s a place for receipts, no filter chats, and self-made musings. It’s for all the career questions that get sent to my phone, the conversations I have on calls, and the stuff I never put *out there* but always want to.
In full disclosure,
Julia
